I also discovered long exposure photography on Flickr and became determined to figure it out quickly. It was when I started to realize the more interesting abilities of full manual photography. I now understood I could never achieve the types of photography I found more interesting while using automatic settings. Many of the photos on Flickr list the general settings used (camera model, focal length, shutter speed, ISO etc) but this doesn’t explain how to get to that point. I used my posts as a forum to express what I considered successes and failures and this seemed to really connect with those who followed me. Most photographs posted rarely share any information about why the shot was taken or how and the majority often just had a short title and quick sentence about the location. 

A photograph is more than just an image. It’s a story and a visual marker on my timeline.  There’s always some reason why a photograph is taken and that reason can be as important as—or more than—what you simply see. Whether they turn out well or not, there are intentions behind each push of the shutter and hopefully this blog and the content of my website will show you what my photographs mean to me and why.
